Biodegradable materials

WELA-Plast GmbH is also able to process biodegradable materials based on starch or PLA (polylactic acid) to produce biogranulates, which can, for example, be used in the production of fully biodegradable garbage bags and carrier bags in compliance with the European standard E DIN 54900. Our bioplastics, produced on the basis of renewable raw materials, can also be processed to make moulded parts, semi-finished products or other sheets and, depending on their degradation  properties, are thus used mainly as a material for packaging, household products, gardening and landscaping products, and other intentionally short-lifetime products.

 

Wood-plastic composites (WPCs)

Wood-plastic composites (WPCs) are composite materials, usually consisting of (powdered) wood, plastics such as PE, PP or even PLA (polylactic acid) as well as additives, such as pigments, UV stabilizers, flow promoters, and bonding agents. They are meltprocessable by extrusion, injection moulding and compression  moulding and to date have become established in non-structural applications. Growth rates of about 30% per year are arousing great interest in this innovative  material in today’s markets. Our cutting-edge process technology enables us to  produce raw materials for these wood-plastic composites (WPCs). Here we are open to all customer requests, can readily offer even PLA-based (polylactic acid) WPCs  while at the same time meeting the highest quality standards and guaranteeing a  fast, dust-free production process for perfect end applications.
